8 from Nepal held for thefts in india


  Police nabbed eight persons of a Nepalese gang from Kapodra area and recovered stolen goods worth Rs 2.29 lakh from them on Sunday. The accused were trying to escape after carrying out a theft in a residential colony in the area.
The recovered goods include jewellery, cameras, cash and cellphones. Rare collection of antique jewellery and currency coins of different countries stolen were also found from their possession. They had stolen these coins and jewellery from a house in Purvi Society belonging to Mukesh Amaliya
The gang was near Bharvad Faliya in Kapodra when they were nabbed following information received by police. The theft was carried out on the night of New Year on Wednesday.
Those arrested include Ganesh Vishnu Shahi, Lakshman Prasad Joshi, Naar Bahadur Kahtri, Dinesh Khatri, Ramesh Rawal, Gopal Rawal and Lokesh Khatri, all residents of Kapodra and Arjun Joshi, a resident of Katargam area. Two of the arrested accused earlier worked as watchmen.
During questioning, the accused told police that they used to make friends with Nepali watchmen of residential societies prior to vacation period. After befriending them, they used to get information about the houses which is likely to remain closed during the vacation period.
The gang mostly targeted bungalows for larger booty. They confessed to carrying out thefts in Pune and Mumbai too and some members were earlier arrested in Mumbai. All the accused are natives of Nepal  and started stealing to live a lavish life. Ganesh Shahi is the gang leader and he used to finalize the targets.

Sanghiya Samajbadi Party formed under Rai

KATHMANDU, NOV 22 - The crusaders of federalism based on single identity on Monday announced the formation of a new party under the leadership of former CPN-UML Vice Chairman Ashok Rai. The new party Sanghiya Samajbadi Party was announced at a programme organised at a function organised at New Baneshwor in the Capital.
