Nov. 8: Patan Hospital and Patan Academy
of Health Sciences (PAHS) is gripped in tension today due to agitation of
doctors and employees of the Hospital.
The
Hospital is tense due to clashes between employees and police in connection
with padlocking the office of the Vice-Chancellor by employees and doctors.
Police
had interfered after the agitating side reached the office of the
Vice-Chancellor to padlock it.
Doctors
and employees chanted slogans and organized sit-in in-front of the office of
the vice-chancellor this morning by closing down services of the Hospital.
The
agitating side is staging sit-in at the Hospital after padlocking the office.
They
said that they will continue the agitation until Vice-Chancellor and Rector
tender resignations.
However,
Vice-Chancellor Sangita Bhandari said that she will no longer resign from the
post as she was appointed lawfully.
Lecturers
of the Academy intensified the agitation demanding resignation of
Vice-Chancellor, Sangita Bhandari, after she took stance on it though lecturers
launched agitation from October 28 disagreeing on the appointment of the Rector
of the Academy.
Former
Vice-Chancellor of the Academy, Dr. Arjun Karki, said it was sad that political
interfere was increasing in the Institution and added that positive solution of
the problem should be found out.
Agitating
doctor, Imran Ansari, blamed that the Vice-Chancellor has meted out injustices
against capable senior doctors, who had contributed to the Academy, by
appointing Rector in a monopolistic manner even though there was a trend in the
Academy of taking leadership by holding discussion collectively.
Meanwhile,
the Police Administration opened the lock out carried out by the agitating side
at the office of the Vice-Chancellor, a little while ago.
