Kathmandu, Nov. 6: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala has said that taking political and economic decisions through ordinance was an anti-democratic move.Speaking at a greetings exchange programme organized by Nepal Women's Association on the occasion of the Tihar festival and Nepal Sambat 1133 in the capital today, Koirala claimed that this government has no right to take any decision without consensus.
The NC President said that the UCPN (Maoist) betrayed other political forces by dissolving the constituent assembly unilaterally and the Bhattarai-led government should be toppled for building an environment of trust among the political parties.
On
the occasion, Koirala said that they requested the President to play roles as
the patron of the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063 as the UCPN (Maoist) was
moving ahead by overriding the rules and regulations.
Also
speaking at the programme, NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel said that
democracy was still at risk and urged one and all to take to streets to
institutionalize federal democratic republic.
He
said maintaining equality was a tough job at a time when the anti-democratic
forces were rising. Nepali Congress general secretary Krishna Sitaula said that
the parties should go for fresh elections by May 2013 by forming a national
consensus government to preserve democracy and establish lasting peace.
On
the occasion, NC spokesperson Dilendra Badu, chairwoman of Association Dr Dila
Sangraula and other NC leaders also expressed their opinions.
