Myagdi,
Nov. 9: As many as 146 species of birds were found in Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve
that lies at the border area of Myagdi, Baglung and Rukum districts.
The
Hunting Reserve studied about the birds in winter and summer season this year
for the first time.
The
Reserve administration counted and found 146 bird species including pheasant,
lophophorus, partridges, doves, eagles, among others at
Fagune, Barse, Ghustung, Dogadi, Seng, Sundaha, and Burtibang block,
separated for the hunting management, said Saroj Panthi, Ranger of the Hunting
Reserve.
The
Reserve administration has conducted the study in the winter and the summer
seasons in the Fiscal year 2068/2069 BS with a view to conserving the birds and
making the management transparent.
Shersingh
Thagunna, Chief of the Hunting Reserve, said the most of the Reserve area is
covered with thick forest and has wide grasslands in the forest area and that
the Reserve has more bird species as compared to other hilly regions. The
number of species of birds could increase, he added.
