Kathmandu, Nov. 4: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has
said that he would take any step ahead only as per a political consensus.
At a meeting with Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal
at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas today, the President urged Chairman
Dahal to work towards giving a political outlet to the nation.
Talking to media persons following the talks, Maoist
Chairman Prachanda said the talks with the President was held in a very open
manner, and added that the President has assured him of not taking any
unconstitutional step.
Stating that his party has an important role in
resolving the political crisis as the largest political party in the
constituent assembly, Mr Dahal said he and his party were actively working
towards that end.
Chairman Dahal also shared that the President made
it clear during the meeting that he was ready to institutionalize federalism,
republic, secularism and other changes established by the people's war and
people's movement.
"I emphasized that the budget would come on the
basis of consensus among the parties and that the President should accept
it", Dahal said and added that the President was not against the budget.
The President is concerned towards immediately
resolving the present political situation, and that is obvious, he added.
Matters relating to the ongoing dialogue and talks
among the political parties were also discussed during the meeting.
The meeting between President Yadav and Maoist
Chairman Dahal was held in the backdrop of the talks and dialogue held among
the political parties failing to draw out any fruitful conclusion.
