FDRA hands over responsibility to Dahal for ending political stalemate

Kathmandu, Oct. 31: A meeting of the ruling partners in the current government has handed over responsibility to Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, to  hold decisive talks with opposition parties within the next two days on whether to go for reinstating Constituent Assembly (CA) or go for fresh elections to take fresh mandate.
The meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar, on Wednesday morning handed over the responsibilities to hold talks with the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (UML), and other opposition parties to end the political stalemate forging political consensus on either of the alternatives in package.
Dahal, who is also the Chairman of the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA), has been handed over the responsibility to find a clear way by holding talks in package, said Prem Bahadur Singh, Spokesperson of the FDRA.
He said, "The nation has been facing constitutional vacuum, and vacuum created by lack of  budget and in such a condition we have seen necessity to take decision and handed over the responsibility to hold talks by fixing a deadline."
Singh said the ruling coalition has prepared to expand the cabinet, bring full budget, announce the dates and places for the mass meetings on federalism, and decide over the continuity of the incumbent government including others if the talks within the two days failed to forge consensus in the disputed issues.
"The meeting held serious discussions on expansion of cabinet, date and places for mass meetings on federalism and on bringing full budget," said Jitendra Dev, General Secretary of the Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) emerging from the meeting.
Earlier to this, former prime minister and the FDRA Chairman Dahal had briefed the ruling partners about the progress made in the meeting with the NC and UML and said the two opposition parties were not flexible on federalism with identity and constitution with federalism.Similarly, Dahal during the meeting called for promulgating constitution by including the issues on which consensus was forged by reinstating CA and if the parties could not reach to consensus for this, fresh elections was the right alternative.
The opposition parties NC and UML are for fresh elections rather than reinstating the CA while the UCPN-Maoist is for CA revival.
