Kathmandu, Oct. 1: The Nepal Rastra
Bank (NRB) has started supplying fresh notes from Monday to avoid shortage of
fresh notes during the festivals.
Fresh notes of Rs. 5, 10, 20, 50 and
Rs. 100 denominations will be supplied sufficiently during the Dashain and
Tihar festivals, said NRB spokesperson Bhaskarmani Gyawali.According to
Gyawali, clients could exchange fresh notes from nearby NRB counters from
today.
The people of Kathmandu valley can
exchange fresh notes from three
counters set up at NRB Thapathali office and other banks and financial
institutions have also been directed to make all necessary arrangements for providing
fresh notes smoothly, he added.
The banks and financial institutions
neglecting the NRB directives can face action, he said.The NRB is in mood of
releasing fresh notes equivalent to Rs. 25 billion during the festival time, it
is learnt.
