UCPN (Maoist) to pick Chairperson Dahal as PP leader

Kathmandu : The Unified CPN (Maoist) is set to elect Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal as its Parliamentary Party (PP) leader.
A meeting of the former politburo members of the party held at Dahal's residence, Lazimpat, on Friday, has drawn a conclusion that Dahal should take the berth of PP leader to play decisive role in the process of promulgating a new constitution within a year.

The senior-most leader should take the post to realize the party's commitment during the CA election so the decision was made to pick Chairperson as the PP leader from theparty, said UCPN (Maoist) leader Haribol Gajurel. The central committee should endorse the decision, he added.
However, the meeting could not finalize the names for PP deputy leader, chief whip and whip in the CA from the party.
The meeting also discussed on special national conference of the party scheduled to take place on coming April/May.
Meanwhile, UCPN (Maoist) leader and former Prime Minister, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai stressed the need for holding special general convention arguing it could not sort out current differences of opinions in the party.
Next meeting, scheduled for Saturday, would hold further discussion in this regard, said Spokesperson Agni Sapkota.
