Nepal Army chief meets Indian counterpart in New Delhi

KATHMANDU: Nepal Army’s Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Gaurav Shumsher Rana held meet his Indian counterpart General Bikram Singh in New Delhi, Monday.
In the meeting held at General Singh’s office, the duo discussed the matter of bilateral interests.
General Rana, who is currently in his maiden India visit as the chief of Nepal Army to receive the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army, received the guard of honour from the Indian Army at South Block.
General Singh met Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi, Air Chief Marshal Nak Browne and the PSOs of Indian Army, according to the Directorate of Public Relations of Nepal Army.
The Nepal Army chief embarked on a nine-day official visit to India on the invitation of the Indian Army chief yesterday.
Earlier today, General Rana paid tributes to the army martyrs, laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti Bhawan in New Delhi. He visited the New Delhi-based Centre for United Natio Peace Keeping also.
General Rana is scheduled to call on India’s Defence Minister A.K. Antony and India’s National Security Advisor Shiva Shankar Menon. On Tuesday, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will confer the Honorary Rank of General of the Indian Army on General Rana at an investiture ceremony on Tuesday.

Sanghiya Samajbadi Party formed under Rai

KATHMANDU, NOV 22 - The crusaders of federalism based on single identity on Monday announced the formation of a new party under the leadership of former CPN-UML Vice Chairman Ashok Rai. The new party Sanghiya Samajbadi Party was announced at a programme organised at a function organised at New Baneshwor in the Capital. Most of the leaders and cadres of the new party are from the UML and some are also from the Nepali Congress. The 98-member central ad hoc working committee includes eight vice chairmen, one general secretary, three deputy general secretaries and five secretaries.
