Bodies of NAC plane crash victims airlifted to Kathmandu (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: The bodies of all the deceased in Nepal Airlines Corporation(NAC) Twin Otter plane crash in Arghakhanchi were airlifted to Kathmandu, Monday afternoon.

According to Directorate of Public Relations(DPR) of Nepal Army (NA), the  bodies are being ferried to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, for post-mortem.

The missing NAC aircraft was found crashed at Masine Lek of  Khanchikot VDC-9 of Arghakhanchi district this morning. All the 18 people on board were killed in the crash.


Earlier, security personnel recovered all 18 bodies from the crash site. A joint team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Foce is  jointly carrying out the rescue works.

Security personnel located the crash site of the missing plane after tracking the NCell mobile phone number carried by NA Major Deepak Shrestha, one of the passengers, this morning.

The plane bound for Jumla from Pokhara, carrying 18 people on board, had gone missing since Sunday afternoon.

Earlier this morning, security personnel were sent at the crash site via three helicopters for the rescue effort. However, according to police, the thick snowfall at the area has affected the rescue effort.
