Kathmandu,
March 14: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and CPN (UML) senior leader Madhav
Kumar Nepal had a meeting at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar this
morning.
In
the meeting, also attended by UML leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari, PM Koirala and
leader Nepal held discussions on holding the local bodies' elections within
mid-June this year.
Talking
to the media persons following his meeting with the PM, senior leader Nepal
said, "We the two parties discussed holding local elections within
mid-June this year at any cost. We also held constructive talks on removing the
delay seen in constitution writing."
When
asked the UCPN (Maoist) and the CPN-Maoist have stated that they were not
taking part in the local elections to be announced for mid-June this year,
leader Nepal, also the former Prime Minister, said that that was a 'product of
the mentality of loss'.
He said the local election was the UCPN
(Maoist)'s agenda that it raised before the election of the Constituent
Assembly and called on the Maoist to rise above the mentality of loss in the
election and take part in the election.
The
former Prime Minister stressed that the local body election was imperative also
for the utilization of the state funds in the rural area, reiterating all
should participate in the election.
"No any election can be held in the coming
four years as it will take time to make arrangements for federalizing the country
after the promulgation of a new constitution within a year," he explained.
The UML senior leader said that besides the local election, they also discussed
constitution writing, maintaining good governance in the country and the Indian
Prime Minister's visit to Nepal.
