Kathmandu, April 19: A team led by
Charge d' Affairs at the Nepali Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, visited 70
Nepalis including nine women, who are currently doing times in different jails
in Thailand to acquire information about them.
The team led by Charge d' Affairs,
Dornath Aryal, comprising officer-bearers of Non-Resident Nepalis Association
(NRNA), Thailand, acquired information about their condition in Thai jails.
On the occasion, the Nepali prisoners
requested the team to help them shift in Nepal so that they could spend their
remaining jail term in Nepal.
Likewise, they also requested the Charge
d' Affairs to take necessary initiatives for granting royal amnesty in
Thailand. The Nepalis complained that they were mostly panicked due to language
problem.
The team met with Director at the
Central Women Jail and requested to help Nepalis on humanitarian ground as the
Nepalese prisoners were facing different problems including language. Most of
the Nepali jailbirds in Thailand have been charged of their involvement in drug
smuggling.
However, NRNA Thailand said that different gangs
involved in organised crimes have used innocent Nepalis asking them to carry
drugs.
